Best Practices

• Pick the duration first. YouTube end screens run 5-20 seconds. Ten seconds fits most channels; go shorter for Shorts, longer only if you have two videos plus a playlist to promote.
• Match the aspect ratio to the destination. Choose 9:16 vertical and the vertical stack layout together — a 16:9 layout letterboxed into Shorts wastes the safe area.
• Keep the tagline under five words. Long lines shrink to unreadable at phone size and are where video models most often produce garbled lettering.
• Give the palette real colours. "Deep indigo and electric cyan" beats "blue" — name two or three hues and one accent.
• Generate two or three takes. Text rendering varies between runs; pick the take with the cleanest lettering rather than re-prompting.

Things to Avoid

• Do not fill the reserved card slots with artwork or text. Anything you put there gets covered by the real end screen elements and reads as clutter behind them.
• Avoid busy, high-contrast backgrounds behind the subscribe button — the click target needs to stay obvious.
• Skip aggressive camera moves. A drifting or orbiting frame makes fixed-position end screen overlays look detached from the animation.
• Do not ask the model to draw a YouTube logo, subscribe bar or player UI. It renders inconsistently and risks a trademark issue; use a plain labelled button instead.
