Internal Comms is the official Anthropic Agent Skill that helps Claude write internal communications in the formats companies actually use — status reports, leadership updates, 3P updates (Progress, Plans, Problems), company newsletters, FAQ responses, incident reports, and project updates. It picks the right format guideline for your request and follows its specific rules for structure, tone, and what information to gather.

What is Internal Comms?

It is a skill in Anthropic's official anthropics/skills repository that gives Claude a set of format-specific guidelines for workplace writing. Instead of producing a generic update, Claude identifies the communication type from your request and loads the matching guideline file before drafting, so the output matches the conventions your team expects.

What it does

• Identifies the communication type from your request (status report, 3P update, newsletter, FAQ, incident report, project update, leadership update)
• Loads the appropriate guideline from the skill's examples/ directory:
  • examples/3p-updates.md for Progress / Plans / Problems team updates
  • examples/company-newsletter.md for company-wide newsletters
  • examples/faq-answers.md for answering frequently asked questions
  • examples/general-comms.md for anything that does not match a specific format
• Follows that file's specific instructions for formatting, tone, and content gathering
• Asks for clarification or more context when the communication type does not match an existing guideline

How it works

Install the skill and ask Claude to write an internal communication. Claude maps your request to one of the supported formats, loads the corresponding guideline file, and drafts the message according to its rules — the 3P structure for team updates, a newsletter layout for company-wide notes, a clear question-and-answer shape for FAQs, and a general-comms template for everything else. When the format is ambiguous, it asks before writing rather than guessing.

Managers, team leads, program and project managers, comms and people teams, founders, and on-call engineers writing incident reports — anyone who sends regular internal updates and uses Claude (Claude.ai, the Claude app, or Claude Code). It is especially useful for recurring writing like weekly 3P updates, leadership summaries, and company newsletters where consistent format matters.
